Category Archives: felt tip

Just a little funny doodle, this one, but a good illustration of our era of narcissistic hurry. This was hand drawn as usual, with a TOMBO ABT felt tip pen.

As much as i like colors in an illustration, I still prefer to play around with b/w lines and fine details. In addition, I like to take objects out of their context – say a floating head. I find this fine line shadow drawing kind of a zen exercise. Even with a pencil.

Color illustration of Adam and Eve facing God, by illustrator Andrea Ciulu

I enjoy depicting God in the funkiest way, say like a 60s producer or something. This color illustration – hey a color illustration on this blog is some kind of event! – is an attempt at giving a vivid coloring with Photoshop. Well, I’m pretty new at that, as I prefer line drawing and black and white, but still I like the result.

PS (i might be tweaking the color balance on this illustration soon)

Illustration of an old man beholding a cute bartender - by Andrea Ciulu

So basically in this illustration you have an aging man who could be either an adventurer or just a frequent client of the bar. I drew him first, then – since he had this mellow look – I imagined he could be looking at something nice, say an attractive bartender. Even though this illustration should be neutral, I guess I put some kind of morale, since she’s frowning upon him. Feel free to judge the scene otherwise.

When the Web 2.0 bubble will pop

After all this pencil work, there will be ink: this illustration / doodle finally gains back some black bold lines. I enjoy adding some extra details to illustrations with a 0.1 pigment liner (Staedtler, of course). Not really sure about the humor, though.
